Federal Shield Back Chair

This American Federal Shield Back Chair is based on one currently found in the Kaufman Collection. Cherry Brook Woodworks has produced two sets of twelve of this particular style. New York, Rhode Island and possibly Salem may have produced this form. The legs are inlayed with box wood with a satin wood cuff. The back is carved by hand and the finish is shellac. Cuban mahogany was used for the chair photographed.
