Philadelphia Racquet Back Chairs

These Philadelphia Racquet Back Chairs are a hybrid reproduction based on a chair attributed to John Aitken, Philadelphia, circa 1795-1810. As a hybrid, some design changes were made based on the client’s requests. The overall chair was made larger than the original so everything was scaled accordingly. The legs, originally tapered with a line inlay, were changed to a reeded spade foot. The arms were originally very plain so a more ornate style was added. Overall, the design changes made for a very attractive chair.
