Process/Ordering

If you have never ordered a custom made piece of furniture, the process is very simple.  The first step would be to contact me by phone or email, though I do prefer a phone conversation.  Emailing pictures of items you like or pictures with elements of certain things that you like are always helpful.  Also, I can copy items directly from a photograph or combine elements to make a unique design.

Before I build anything, depending on the piece, I do a full scale drawing or a 3:1 scale drawing that you will see for approval.  I hand select all the materials that I use and also have the contacts to acquire some truly one-of-a-kind boards if needed.  I can work with a wide array of finishes depending on your needs.  All of the colors that I use for finishing are 100% custom- therefore, you don’t have to pick from a predetermined color palette.  Additionally, I will supply you with color samples.

I require a 50% deposit to start a project with final payment due upon completion prior to any delivery.  On large jobs, I require a 60% deposit to start with another 30% prior to finishing and the final 10% due prior to delivery.

Time frame for completion varies by piece.  Typically, 60 to 90 days or less from receiving the deposit is average.

Visits to my shop to see the quality of my work or to see your piece in progress are always welcome!

ACCOLADES

The bed arrived! I love it. I honestly got misty eyed when I saw it. It’s beautiful. Really a work of art. Just exactly what I always wanted! The stain matches perfectly. I’ll send you pictures. Can’t thank you enough.

“All expectations met!  The bed is perfect!  I didn’t really think it would be possible. You are truly gifted in your vision and skill.  I had no idea it would be this lovely.
Over the years, I have learned to modify my expectations – but it wasn’t necessary at all with the bed.
I can’t wait to do something like this project again”.

“Peter is an amazing craftsman and a valuable resource. I’ve entrusted Peter with the restoration of many antiques over the years and have always been thrilled with the results. His knowledge of the history of furniture insures that each restoration is sensitive to the original. Once completed, it is often impossible to detect his repairs. I am happy to recommend him to anyone seeking antique restoration, fine cabinetry or custom furniture.”  A CT antique dealer

The desk arrived today. It is beautiful! Exactly what I wanted.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!  Houston, Texas client

“Just had a custom table made for our breakfast nook area. Pete was extremely easy to work with…he offered suggestions and understood what we were looking for. He also steered us away from making mistakes in our design. Together we came up with a design that met our needs. The table came out beautifully. I’ve already received many compliments on it and it is exactly what we wanted. I can’t recommend Pete highly enough. He is a talented professional who takes great pride in his work.”  Easton CT.

“WOW!  I love them!  The dovetails on top are stunning, the divide between box and the base so beautiful, the maple figures/grain lining up where the cabinet doors meet, etc., etc., etc.  Bravo Pete!  I am SO excited to welcome these pieces into my home!”  Atlanta, GA client.

“Thanks again for all your hard work.  As you can see from the picture, the table looks beautiful, the color is really nice with the flooring and the surrounding fabrics.  It fits perfectly and works wonderfully.  We are most happy!” CT client.

The furniture arrived Monday. It is perfect! They look better than the picture we started with.  The color is really good. Everyone including the delivery man commented on how easy the draw slides are. He said they were better than any he’d ever seen and he’s seen a lot. Peter you do beautiful work. I hope I can use you again.

“The table is amazing!! Thanks”.  CT client.
