Cherry Brook Woodworks was commissioned by the Gracie Mansion Conservancy to replicate twenty side chairs and four arm chairs for display and use in the historic Gracie Mansion in New York. The twenty four antique reproduction chairs were based on a set of eight New York chairs in which Cherry Brook Woodworks had previously reproduced one arm chair to fill out the set. Two of these chairs, one period and one replica were delivered to Gracie Mansion for the board members and staff to review.
Gracie Mansion has been the official residence of New York’s mayors since 1942. It was built in 1799 as a summer residence for prosperous shipping merchant Archibald Gracie. It is one of the oldest surviving wood structures in Manhattan and is a member of The Historic House Trust.
