Barrel Back Chairs – Exact Replication

These Barrel Back Chairs are an example of exact chair replication by Cherry Brook Woodworks. The client had a set of 10 period handmade chairs and needed a total of 14. They provided one chair to copy from, and Peter made four exact matches to blend into the original set. This was one of the most challenging commissions. The arms have a vertical helical twist and are cut from solid wood. They are not steam bent. The back splat is curved to match the seat rail. The four chairs were color-matched and distressed to match the original ten chairs. Which one is the original?
